Living Room Practice

No mat, no net, no ball. The living room is where motor patterns are truly rewired because the distraction of the golf ball is completely removed. You only need a mirror and your carpet.

The Carpet Putting Gate

Putting on carpet is terrible for speed control, but excellent for start-line mechanics. Place two heavy books (or dumbbells) exactly a putter-head's width apart. Place a coin 10 feet away. Practice stroking the putter through the gate without touching the books. This guarantees a square face and neutral path.

The "Pump" Drill (Slow Motion)

Stand facing a window or mirror. Take your setup with a mid-iron. Go to the top of your backswing. Now, "pump" your arms down until the shaft is parallel to the ground (Delivery Position), then return to the top. Repeat 3 times, then swing through slowly. This ingrains the feeling of the arms dropping while the back remains facing the target, curing the over-the-top move.

Posture Checks

Stand with your back to the couch, calves lightly touching it. Hinge at the hips into golf posture. If you lose contact with the couch, your weight moved to your toes. If you push the couch back, you sat on your heels. You want sustained, light contact.
